Ironically, China today is rapidly transforming into a modernised world as against the ugly portraits and dooming predictions from Western media. Thanks to the criticism from outside, the past few decades saw our country undergo great changes with each passing day, as various areas flourished and people’ lives improved significantly.

颇具讽刺意味的是，当今的中国正迅速转变为一个现代化的世界，与西方媒体唱衰的丑态恰恰相反。 “多亏”了外界的批评，在过去的几十年里，我们的国家每天都在发生着巨大的变化，许多地区繁荣昌盛，人民生活显著改善。

There are indeed problems, but seeing that it has been only 40 years of reform and opening up, developing on all fronts at an unprecedented pace, the Chinese government today might be the most efficient, capable and satisfactory one in Chinese history. It is not strange to understand why Chinese have displayed optimism to their government and a more promising future.

中国的确存在着一些问题，但我们改革开放才40余年，各方面就已取得了前所未有的发展。今天的中国政府可能是中国历史上最有效率、最有能力、最令人满意的政府。中国人对他们政府和（国家）充满希望的未来感到乐观，这一点也不奇怪。

I don’t have time to expand here, but China is such a unique nation with its historical, cultural and political characteristics. One life is not enough to understand it even for a native Chinese. It has made and is continuing to make its due contribution to the progressive causes for all mankind.

我没有时间在这里展开，但中国是一个在历史、文化与政治上都颇具特色的独特国家。即使对于一个土生土长的中国人来说，倾其一生也不足以完全了解它。它已经并将继续为全人类的进步事业作出应有的贡献。

May China live long and prosper in peace and harmony together with the rest of the world.
